Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. Participants Needed for Late Life Insomnia Study If you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep at night, or if you feel tired in the morning, you may suffer from insomnia. Researchers at UPMC are using the latest scientific methods - including MRI scans of the brain and studies of sleep - to learn why people have insomnia and how it affects health and functioning. This research study includes a short behavioral treatment for late life insomnia. If you are over the age of 60 and have trouble sleeping, you may be eligible to participate in our research study. A few of the events include boccie, bowling, cycling, golf, horseshoes, and swimming. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers of each event in each age bracket. Each participant will also receieve the official 2008 Westmoreland County Senior Games t-shirt.

“Toss for SAM: Asbury Disc Golf”

The Third Annual Toss for SAM will feature an exclusive, temporary 9-hole disc golf course on the Asbury campus. Two rounds will be played, with teetimes at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm

Registration is $15.00 and includes a disc, chances to win prizes, free refreshments, and music by DJ Dyno-Mike.

Disc Golf is played much like traditional golf. The object of the game is to throw the disc into a metal basket in as few throws as possible. There are disc golf courses throughout the world and eight in the Pittsburgh area. Disc golf is
played form school age to old age, making it an enjoyable lifetime sport for everyone.

The 34th annual American Cancer Society Larry Richert Celebrity Golf Classic will be held June 20, 2008 at the Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania, with proceeds from the event benefiting the Society. Local Pittsburgh celebrities team up with each foursome to golf the beautiful and historic Longue Vue course. Pittsburgh sports celebrities who have participated over the past two years include Craig Patrick, Pierre Larouche, Roberto Clemente, Jr., Troy Benson, Jean Sebastian Aubin, Robin Cole, Steve Blass, Jay Caufield, Phil Bourque, Mike Wagner, Joey Mullen, Matt Bahr, and Manny Sanguillen.

Event includes meals, contests, gifts for golfers, hole-in-one prizes and an auction. Join us to raise funds for the Society's local patient services and programs, education and advocacy work and life-saving cancer research.

The registration fee for the event is $1,500 per foursome, and the registration deadline is June 1. Sponsorship packages including tee and green signs are available.
